3 things the Cleveland Browns must do to beat the Tennessee Titans
By Zane Harris
2. Establish the Passing Game
The second thing that the Cleveland Browns must do to defeat the Tennessee Titans is to establish a passing game. This was something that was a glaring weakness in the game against the Titans last year.
Mayfield’s stat line last year was 25-38 for 285 yards, good for one touchdown and three interceptions. While he had a solid completion percentage and yardage, the problem came in the turnovers.
Turnovers were a big problem for Mayfield last season. However, he has greatly improved in that area and is on pace to substantially cut down his interception numbers. On top of this, he is coming off of a very solid performance last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Finishing with 258 yards one touchdown and zero interceptions. Although the Jaguars’ pass defense pales in comparison to the Titans, as long as he does not get flustered in the pocket, he should be able to keep his picks under control.
The final player that will play a huge role in if the passing game is successful or not is Jarvis Landry. Landry had his game of the year last week against the Jags. He finished the game with 8 receptions for 143 yards and one touchdown.
Mayfield has a tendency to stare down and heavily target his number one receiver. With Beckham Jr. sidelined for the rest of the season, that role will be on Landry. If he is able to replicate his game from last week, it will do wonders in both the passing games and the chances of the Browns pulling off a win on Sunday.
