Cleveland Browns: 3 keys to victory against the Titans
By Sam Penix
3. Lean on Baker Mayfield
It’s best to assume that the Cleveland defense is going to struggle, and for the offense to plan accordingly. That means putting the game in Baker Mayfield‘s hands. Yes, he’s missed some easy throws over the past few weeks. But ever since that first quarter of the Cincinnati Bengals game, something about him has been different.
He’s consistently making high-level throws, the likes of which only a few other passers in the league can make. He certainly needs to get better at taking the easy throws the defense gives him, but the Browns can’t afford to wait until that happens.
They’re going to need Mayfield at his best to win this game, and as dominant as Tennessee’s offense can be, their defense is a different story. Joe Burrow and the Bengals were able to put up 31 points in a win, and if they can do that, so can Cleveland. Mayfield will need to be smart and aggressive, and he’ll need to score a lot of points for the Browns to emerge victorious. But based on how he’s been trending this season, that’s something he’s certainly capable of doing.
This is a massive test for Mayfield and the Browns as a whole. If they can accomplish these three things, they can pull off a victory, and prove to the rest of the NFL that their impressive record is no fluke.
