The Rookies

This might be where Andrew Berry shined the most in 2020. The Browns entered the draft with the tenth pick in the first round and seven picks overall. While the Browns may have lost Grant Delpit to injury, that has not kept this class from having an impact in 2020.

Jedrick Wills: With that tenth pick in the first round, the Browns took former Alabama right tackle Jedrick Wills. All Wills has done is be the highest-rated pass-blocking left tackles in the NFL.

He has some work left to do in the running game but has shown signs that he can be the answer at left tackle for years to come. Having Wills on a rookie deal for the next few years also allows the Browns some freedom with other contracts that will need to get done soon. Nailing that pick is a double win for Berry and his front office.

Grant Delpit: Could he be an impact player in 2021? We all know the talent that Delpit possesses, and the hope is he will come back strong from injury.

Harrison Bryant: Bryant could end up being the steal of the draft in the fourth round. All Bryant has done this season is catch 16 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who might be the fifth option on every play. Not only has he proven he can catch, something we should have all known, but Bryant has also been a terrific pass blocker and solid run blocker all season. The future is very bright for the former Mackey award winner.

Jordan Elliott: While Elliott has not blown the doors off in 2020, he has had a few big games and shown flashes of what is to come. He also was not supposed to be the primary backup in 2020. Andrew Billings was signed for that but opted out of the season. Considering the role he was thrown into, Elliot has done a solid job this season on a defensive line that needs everybody to bring something to the table. With some natural improvement from being in the NFL, Elliott could make a solid starter in 2021.

Donovan Peoples-Jones: Game-winning touchdown catch in Cincinnati and a nice 75-yard reception for a touchdown this past week against the Titans. Those plays highlight the talent that this young wideout possesses. The question is, can the Browns coaches pull it out of him every week. Still, getting seven catches and two touchdowns out of a sixth-round pick ain’t too shabby. The real excitement is the talent you see oozing from the young man and what he could bring in the future at the wide receiver position.

Jacob Phillips/Nick Harris: Phillips has fought a knee issue all year but made a few flash plays when on the field. He has been back on the field the last couple of games in limited action on defense and special teams. Maybe Phillips can still make a bigger impact over the last four games, but the hope is he is learning and will be ready to make his presence felt in 2021.

Nick Harris has taken one snap on offense this season, and that is a great thing. The Browns’ continuity and health overall on the line has helped the young center sit back and learn this season. Harris has been able to get some time on the field as part of special teams, so we have got some use out of the young fifth-round center. This pick is about the future, and nothing this young man has done has put that into question.
