Cleveland Browns: 3 Bold predictions for Baker Mayfield in Week 14 vs. Ravens

2. His legs become a weapon
No one will ever confuse Baker Mayfield with Lamar Jackson, that’s for sure. Jackson is a beast with his legs — and some would even argue his legs are the only reason he’s successful at all. As a rookie, Jackson had 695 yards and five touchdowns in seven starts. He followed that up with 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore and this season, he has 669 yards and four touchdowns with five games to play.
Mayfield, on the other hand, has just 353 yards and three rushing touchdowns in his career — with all three of those touchdowns coming in his second season. This year, Mayfield has run for 81 yards and is averaging a career-low 2.3 yards per rush. But that doesn’t mean he’s been ineffective when he does take off.
For example, Mayfield has rushed for eight first downs on the season. While this is less than the 15 he had last season, it ties what he did as a rookie when he had 131 total yards. All of this is being said to point out that Mayfield is running when it’s the last option but he’s also been making the most out of it.
In this game, look for him to make a couple of plays with his legs that make a difference. The aforementioned play-action bootlegs usually are designed to get him on the move in order to throw the ball, but this bold prediction is that it leads to a couple of key first-down conversions and even his first rushing touchdown of the season.
