Dud: Cody Parkey, Kicker

After so many years of struggling at the kicking position after the departure of legend Phil Dawson, Browns fans thought they had finally found something in Cody Parkey.  Coming into Monday Night, Parkey had missed one extra point and was 17 -of-19 on field goals.

Unfortunately, that was not the case on Monday night as Parkey missed a 39 yarder to the left and pushed an extra point right. While this wasn’t the only factor that caused the Browns to lose the game tonight, it was no help at all and really took the momentum away from the team when they needed it most.

The biggest miss of the night by far was the extra point. After the missed 39 yarder that would have given the Browns a three-point lead, the Ravens would eventually score before the half and then get the ball to start the third quarter and go 75 yards in four plays.

Down by 14, some had given up hope, but the Browns drove down the field and brought it within seven…so we thought. The missed extra point sucked the life out of the stadium and took a lot of excitement away from the touchdown drive.

Many didn’t expect the missed kick to be that big, but ultimately it killed the Browns’ chances of winning. Parkey has earned the right for one bad week, but let’s hope he gets it together before heading to New York.
