Three things the Cleveland Browns must do to beat the New York Jets
By Zane Harris
3. Take advantage of a poor passing defense
The first thing that the Cleveland Browns must do to defeat the New York Jets is taking advantage of the Jets’ poor passing defense. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has historically played relatively poorly against the Jets.
He averages 18 completed passes on 29 attempts for 263 yards, 0.5 touchdowns, and 0.5 interceptions in his two career starts against the Jets. However, this is a new year and this is a new Baker.
This is by far the best year of his career and the further the season goes on the further it seems that he may be the quarterback of the future for the Cleveland Browns. Mayfield currently has a career-high in completion percentage, passing touchdowns, touchdown percentage, and QBR this season. He is pairing that with career lows in interceptions, interception percentage, sacks taken, and sack percentage.
This would be an easy game for Mayfield to continue his run of dominance that he has put on display in the past few games. The Jets give up the 3rd most passing yards per game this season. Along with this, they give up the 5th most points in the league this year.
This combination has conjured up the perfect storm for Mayfield to have a career day that could even compete with the performance that he had against the Indianapolis Colts earlier in the season.
