2. Shutting down the run game

The second thing that the Cleveland Browns must do to beat the New York Jets is to shut down their run game. The Jets have by far the worst passing offense in the entire NFL. They average a league-worst 168.2 passing yards per game. Along with this, they average only 14.7 points per game which is also the lowest in the league.

The Jets run game is not really anything that Browns fans should have to worry about either, however, it is much better than their passing game. The Jets average 102.9 rushing yards per game which is the 10th worst in the NFL.

With a 37-year-old Frank Gore being the team’s workhorse back, the Browns should be able to complete this goal rather easily. The only other back that the Jets played against the Rams was Ty Johnson. In this game, he played a bigger role in the passing game than the rushing game and should be a nonfactor against the Browns.

The defensive line seems to be hitting its peak at the right time of the year. With Oliver Vernon playing like a pro bowler and Myles Garrett playing like an MVP candidate, there should not be many opportunities for Gore to follow up his performance against the Los Angeles Rams with another good game.
