Terrance Mitchell, CB

Terrance Mitchell unexpectedly ended up being the Browns starting cornerback this season opposite of Denzel Ward, as 2019 second-round pick Greedy Williams has yet to play this season. Mitchell has been an iron man for the defense, playing in all 13 games. This has been the most games Mitchell has started in his entire NFL career, and he has shown some good and some bad things with the increased workload.

As he is currently in the final year of his deal, and he is turning 29 this offseason, he could likely be someone that the Browns don’t end up bringing back in 2021. He has played out his current three years, $10 million contract, and could likely make more on a more cornerback needy team in the offseason.

The Browns may have the capability to bring him back and may want to in a backup role, as he has shown that he can stay healthy and contribute to the franchise these past two seasons. However, I believe the team will look to draft one or two cornerbacks in the upcoming draft, likely taking one with one of their first three picks.

If the Browns could bring Mitchell back to the team at his current yearly salary for around two years, then that would be a good deal for the franchise. However, I think Mitchell will be able to get more money on a longer deal elsewhere. He will likely not be back in 2021.
