Larry Ogunjobi, DT

Larry Ogunjobi was one of the biggest surprises to me from the Cleveland Browns 2017 draft class. I didn’t really know much about him when he was drafted, but he has made a great impact on the team since. Over the past four seasons, Ogunjobi has totaled 44 starts over 57 games, starting 43 straight games, and has racked up 14 sacks, 171 tackles, 34 quarterback hits, and 28 tackles for loss.

So far this season, Ogunjobi’s production has slowed down, but there’s no doubt that he has had a successful NFL career so far for the relatively unknown third-round pick out of Charlotte. Sadly, it seems that Ogunjobi could be in his last season with the Cleveland Browns. Despite a dip in production this year, he still will likely be a prime candidate to receive a major pay raise this offseason.

Ogunjobi has shown his ability to be a solid starting defensive tackle in the NFL, and an NFL team with cap space and a need at the position will likely offer him an exponentially better pay raise than what he has averaged on his rookie contract.

With the amount of money the Browns already have tied up into their defensive line, and the team’s 2020 third-round pick Jordan Elliot waiting in the wings, it wouldn’t make too much sense to try to bring back Ogunjobi, unless you’re committed to letting Olivier Vernon walk.
