Rashard Higgins, WR
Next up on this list is probably your favorite of the bunch, Rashard Higgins. One of the best draft picks that the Browns took during the period of darkness in the franchise’s history, Higgins has been very efficient these past few years. Higgins was showing great improvement before his inexplicable benching in 2019, as he was one of Baker Mayfield’s favorite targets in 2018 and now in 2020, he has returned to that status.
Higgins is in for a nice pay raise this offseason, so investing so much capital in the wide receiver room might be a bad idea. However, as the cap increases, and Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry’s contracts don’t look as bad, investing in Higgins would be a smart move. We could potentially see Jarvis restructure his contract and sign another extension, especially since his guaranteed money is mostly up after this year.
With an always increasing cap space, the largest amount of cap space for the upcoming season, and a few bloated contracts that could be restructured, the Cleveland Browns really have no excuse to keep important players like Rashard Higgins. His price tag will not be anywhere near Odell or Jarvis, and won’t be enough to justify losing him in the name of cap space. Higgins has found his home in Cleveland and should be a Cleveland Browns player for life.
