Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield’s 5 best games of 2020
By Sam Penix
3. Week 14 vs. Baltimore Ravens
In what is probably the best game of the 2020 season, the Browns fell to the division rival Baltimore Ravens by a final score of 47-42. Mayfield had put together six consecutive good outings, and was coming off the best game of his career against the Tennessee Titans, but the complaint was that he was playing well against bad defenses.
So naturally, he went out and put up 343 yards and three touchdowns (one rushing) against one of the best defenses in the league. Mayfield did throw a killer interception early in the third quarter, but he was also the sole reason the Browns were in this game at all. The defense couldn’t do anything to stop Lamar Jackson, and even allowed Trace McSorley to move the ball on them in a critical situation.
Cleveland scored touchdowns on four of its five (not including the final lateral play) possessions in the second half, taking a one-point lead with 6:33 to go and then tying it up with 1:04 remaining. It was an incredible back-and-forth game that was truly worthy of the Monday Night slot. The Browns ultimately came up short, which was disappointing, but the way Mayfield led that team back multiple times was even more encouraging.
