4. Week 1 at Baltimore Ravens

Week 1 featured a matchup between a team and coaching staff that was nearly identical to what it had been for the past few seasons of success, pitted against an organization attempting to recover from the disaster that 2019 was, with a new front office, a new coaching staff, a high level of roster turnover, and all that on top of the virtual “offseason” thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two teams were almost complete opposites of each other, with one well suited to win immediately, and the other ready for some growing pains.

That’s exactly what the game looked like, as the Ravens easily won 38-6. It was possible to see what the Browns wanted to do offensively early in the game, but once Baltimore jumped out to a lead, that gameplan had to be abandoned, and it was obvious that the players and coaches were not yet on the same page.

Getting trounced by your archrival is never a good thing, but at the very least, this loss was somewhat understandable, and the team rebounded with a decisive victory over the Cincinnati Bengals the next week. Perhaps getting punched in the mouth from the very beginning was the best thing for this group.
