The secondary is the weakest part of the team, and it needs a ton of work this offseason. McLeod will be entering his 10th season and carries a $5.2 million cap hit in the final year of his contract. He suffered a torn ACL in December which could delay the start of his 2021 season, but as long as McLeod can come back from that injury, he’s a good coverage safety who can at least provide respectable play in the back end of the Cleveland defense.

The Browns reportedly made McLeod an offer back in 2016, and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Andrew Berry have interest once again. The cap hit is potentially a roadblock, as McLeod is probably worth it (Andrew Sendejo made approximately half that in 2020 and McLeod is certainly the better player), but there will also be quite a large amount of good DBs available in free agency this offseason.

The Browns will have Grant Delpit and Ronnie Harrison Jr. starting at two safety spots next season, but they need both a third starter and more depth. McLeod could help with either, or perhaps both. Cleveland flat-out needs more good players in the secondary, and McLeod is a good player.
