2. S Marcus Epps

If the Browns want to trade for a Philadelphia safety, Epps might make even more sense than McLeod, provided the Eagles would be willing to move him. Epps was a sixth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 before being claimed off waivers by Philly in November of that year. He earned a 75.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus in 2020 and was solid in every area.

He has yet to turn 25 years old and is under very cheap control through 2022, so this would not be a one-year rental. Epps does fit the profile of a player that a rebuilding team would want to keep, but the Eagles are also the kind of front office that would want to accumulate as many draft picks as possible in the event of a rebuild.

Epps likely wouldn’t start for the Browns, but he’d provide some very nice depth and with how much Woods would like to play nickel and dime, Epps would see the field plenty. A defense can truly never have enough playable defensive backs, even if injuries aren’t ravaging the position group. Cleveland would do well to add as much depth as possible, exploring the trade market for players like Epps.
