3. Week 13 Cleveland at Tennessee

Heading into the Week 13 contest against the Tennessee Titans, the national media was giving the Browns no shot at winning, despite an 8-3 record. Many believed Mayfield and company were not as good as the record indicated.

Mayfield used that as motivation as only he can and exploded for 334 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, and a QBR of 147.0. He was also not sacked in the game.

All four of his touchdown passes came in the first half. He connected with wide receiver Jarvis Landry for two yards, offensive lineman Kendall Lamm from a yard out, Peoples-Jones for 75 yards, and wideout Rashard Higgins for 17 yards. Cleveland led Tennessee at the half 35-7 and ended up winning the game 41-35 as the Titans made a huge comeback in the second half.

This was the type of game that Mayfield needed to continue to build on. Up to this point in the season, he was up and down and a large part of that was due to some of the craziest weather you’ll ever see in Cleveland, where the run game was heavily relied on.

The swagger of Mayfield was on full display against one of the best teams in the NFL at the time, something that had gone missing a season ago.
