Right off the bat, we have to say ‘fixing’ might not be the right term. The Cleveland Browns aren’t a broken team anymore, even though they were for a very long time. Instead, they’re now a team coming off an 11-win season that ended with a five-point loss to the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Maybe a better term would be ‘re-loading’ the Browns, or ‘fine-tuning’ the Cleveland roster. But alas, today’s Daily Dawg Tags looks at several articles, including one where Josh Edwards of CBS Sports gives us five steps to “fix” the Browns.

While we can sit here and haggle over ther verbiage, he does have some fine points — including the primary goal of landing another edge rusher to start alongside of Myles Garrett.

Of course, all but one of his points refer to addressing the defensive side of the ball, which is hard to argue with. The story from Edwards and more can be found below in the Daily Dawg Tags.

Five steps to fix the Browns in 2021: Finding an edge rusher to pair with Myles Garrett is a priority — Josh Edwards, CBS Sports

"“Re-sign wide receiver Rashard HigginsWhen Odell Beckham Jr. went down with an injury, there were concerns about whether the team had the players capable of stepping up and filling the void. Higgins, a former fifth-round pick and one of Mayfield’s closest friends on the team, rose to the occasion.”"

This point is the only thing Edwards says needs to be done on offense and he’s absolutely right. Rashard Higgins has been a great player for the Browns and he needs to be brought back on something better than a one-year deal.

Browns LB Mack Wilson responded to Patrick Mahomes’ mom after she called him ‘evil’ for hit — Andrew Joseph, USA Today

"“In the moments after the hit that injured her son, Randi Mahomes took to Twitter and called Wilson “evil” for the tackle.”"

Randi Mahomes later was cordial with Wilson who also had a solid exchange with Patrick Mahomes about the hit. Watching the play again, it’s hard to see how anyone could think Wilson intentionally tried to hurt Mahomes. It was just an unfortunate play and it would be nice if people could see it for that and stop trying to drag Wilson through the mud simply because it was a former NFL MVP who got hurt.

Wyatt Teller rooting for his old teammates with the Bills to win in AFC championship — Jeff Risdon, Browns Wire

"“I hope the best for them and all the success to them,” Teller said via Zoom on Tuesday. “Josh, I’ve texted him multiple times, Harrison Phillips, Ike Boettger, a bunch of the guys on the offensive line. Dion Dawkins, I made sure to say hey to him. FaceTimed him a couple times.”"

Teller still has friends in Buffalo, so this is nothing like when Chase Claypool said the Browns would be “clapped” by the Chiefs. Instead, he’s just cheering on his former team — and if we are being honest, aren’t we all kind of hoping the Bills get some revenge for us?

Finally, Baker Mayfield won’t have to learn a new system to begin season

Grant Puskar points out that for the first time in his young career, Baker Mayfield will enter this offseason with the same head coach, the same play-caller, and same offensive coordinator as he started the previous season with. These are all huge developments for him and his future success.
