Jacob Phillips (3rd round)

Linebacker play from the Browns this year was one of the weakest spots on the entire roster. For Jacob Phillips, he didn’t have too much to show for his rookie season, besides a few nice tackles here and there throughout the season.

Phillips did not appear in every game this season, as he missed a few due to injury. Phillips finished with just 16 solo tackles and 9 assists on the season and also finished with a pretty low overall grade. Again, besides a few nice plays where Phillips flashed his speed and ball-hawking ability, it was a pretty quiet rookie season from Phillips. The Browns will most likely address the linebacker position again this off-season, so who knows how much of Phillips we will see next season.

Jordan Elliot (3rd round)

Overall, in terms of production and personal preference, Jordan Elliot would fall third on my list if I were to rank the Browns 2020 draft class after one season, behind Jedrick Wills and Peoples-Jones.

Elliot showed flashes that he can do just about everything as a defensive tackle, and I really believe he can be a rotational piece for the Browns defense in the coming years. Elliot finished with 12 solo tackles, five assists as well as a forced fumble that was huge against the Eagles early in the game, as the Eagles were driving and in the red-zone down around the 5-yard line when Elliot forced the fumble.

Elliot most likely would not have seen the field much at all if it weren’t for defensive tackle Andrew Billings electing to opt-out of the season for COVID-19 reasons. As the Browns get Billings back next season and they address the defense, it will be interesting to see what they do with Elliot and see how much they use him next season.
