3. WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Things haven’t quite gone according to plan for Odell Beckham in Cleveland, and while his $15.75 million cap hit in 2021 would be quite modest for the player he was with the New York Giants, that version of OBJ has yet to appear with the Browns, at least from a production standpoint.

Because the Giants took on all of his dead cap via trade, Beckham would cost the Browns nothing to move if they were to go that route. It makes little sense for them to do that, but it is an option nonetheless.

Beckham’s lack of guaranteed salary for the remainder of his deal makes him another potential restructure candidate, and keeping him around (and just as importantly, getting him to work properly) is vital to taking the Cleveland offense to the next level.

Currently, OBJ ranks seventh among wide receivers in cap hit for 2021. At the height of his powers, he’s worth much more than that. But that player hasn’t been seen for some time now, and both he and his agent need to understand that. He won’t be cut, and he won’t be traded for anything less than he’s worth. OBJ will almost certainly be in Cleveland for the remainder of his contract, but that doesn’t mean his contract will stay the same.
