4. Christian Barmore, Alabama Crimson Tide

In his two full seasons on the Crimson Tide line, Christian Barmore put up 63 total tackles, 15.5 for loss, and 10 sacks. At 6-5 and 310-pounds, he would bring size and power to a position that the Browns could need with Larry Ogunjobi hitting free agency and likely departing. Coming out of Alabam as a defensive tackle almost guarantees you will at least be a viable player based on the players already tearing up the NFL after learning from Nick Saban and company.

Barmore looks the part with his size but tends to play high and get knocked around. He does show some raw natural power and has some pass rush moves, so the thought is that some work to get him playing at a lower pad level could release his full potential. Barmore is further ahead in his ability to get to the quarterback than stop the run, but some of that also comes back to playing high as he can be pushed backward too often.

While Barmore needs some work with his technique, all the tools are there to quickly become a good NFL player. It also helps to have players like Sheldon Richardson and Myles Garrett around to take the pressure off to succeed quickly.

Barmore was a borderline first-rounder until his big performance in the CFB championship had some analysts pushing him into the first-round. It feels as though the Browns might be able to get more value at 26, and if Barmore somehow is still on the board later into the second round, he should be on the front office’s’ radar.
