It wouldn’t be a Cleveland Browns draft if there wasn’t an LSU player taken, right? The Browns have been called LSU North due to the fact that they added both Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry in the 2018 and 2019 seasons — both of whom are well-known for their days with the Tigers. Of course, it’s not just the addition of the wideouts as Cleveland also took Greedy Williams in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Grant Delpit in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and Jacob Phillips in the third round in 2020.

Now, with their second of two picks in the third round of this mock, they go back to LSU to get themselves a massive nose tackle in Tyler Shelvin. Last season, the Browns really struggled to stop the run as opposing teams had their way with them.

Part of the problem was that they had to start Sheldon Richardson and Larry Ogunjobi next to one another — and while they each had their impressive traits, they’re also both truly three-techniques. Cleveland did try and address this by signing Andrew Billings in free agency, but the former Cincinnati Bengals nose tackle opted-out of the season due to concerns over COVID-19.

Even if Billings returns, Cleveland can use more depth on the interior. Ogunjobi is a free agent and Richardson could be a cap casualty. Jordan Elliott is there, but the third-round pick from 2020 is also a better fit as the three-tech. They need more players capable of playing the nose and the 6-foot-3, 362-pound Shelvin can be a great addition for them as a depth piece with the potential to start down the road.
