That’s a lot of potential for turnover. The Browns have one surefire long-term core offensive player who is not an offensive lineman; Baker Mayfield. The defense has three real foundational pieces in Garrett, Ward, and Harrison. That’s it. If the team wants to compete with Kansas City, Buffalo, etc. they must transform how the roster is constructed. This is what the Browns need right now:

Needs

Speed everywhere

2-3 WRs

Starting EDGE

Depth EDGE

Starting DT

Depth DT

Starting CB

Starting slot CB

Starting S

Secondary depth

There are some players on the team or pending free agents who can fill some of these roles, but the majority must be filled by draft picks. Andrew Berry and company had a great 2020 draft even though their second pick didn’t play a snap. They’ll need a repeat of that with their nine selections in 2021.

Next. 4 free agent WRs Browns must consider in 2021 offseason. dark

The Browns have a real shot at winning a Super Bowl over the next few seasons, but that’s because they have Baker Mayfield, not because of a deep, well-built roster around him. If he were to be given the type of skill position and defensive help that Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady recieve, look out.
