Derek Carr – Las Vegas Raiders

Trade Possibility: Likely

One name that has been talked about quite a bit so far this offseason is Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. The three-time Pro Bowler led the Raiders to an 8-8 record, one of those wins being against the two-loss Kansas City Chiefs, and was a borderline top-10 performer at the position this season. Carr threw for 4,103 yards and 27 touchdowns and had the Raiders in the hunt for a playoff spot for most of the season.

Having no true number one wide receiver, Carr was able to spread the ball around to 14 different players, most notably the tight end Darren Waller. Carr’s leadership qualities and skills have been questioned under the Jon Gruden regime. When given the right system to succeed, he could very well be considered a true top 10 quarterback year in and year out.

Carr’s lack of mobility is his downfall. Sometimes he can be stiff in the pocket and has gotten sacked often because of his tunnel vision but he has the ability to make the big throws downfield and there’s always a chance as long as he’s in the game, i.e. Week 13 against the New York Jets.

Baker Mayfield’s mobility is without a doubt better than Carr but his frequent tendency to force passes is what puts DC ahead.
