Which NFL quarterbacks should be ranked ahead of Baker Mayfield?

Ryan Tannehill – Tennessee Titans
Trade Possibility: No chance
Ryan Tannehill has always been viewed as an average to above-average starting quarterback in the NFL when healthy. He had a real breakout in 2019, his first year with the Tennessee Titans when he replaced the benched Marcus Mariota. He earned the starting nod towards the middle of the season and took his opportunity and ran with it.
This past season he took a big step forward as a passer. When Derrick Henry wasn’t having a great game, Tannehill did. Previously viewed as a game manager, he really altered his game in 2020. His touchdown numbers and percentages increased since his last full season and his turnover numbers decreased since then as well. Tannehill was tied with Deshaun Watson for third this season in touchdown to interception ratio with a 4.71, trailing only Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.
According to PFF, Tannehill was ranked 5th out of 38 eligible quarterbacks. His success in Tennessee carried over from last season but there’s no guarantee that it will continue.
This Titans offense may look very different next season with the departure of their offensive coordinator and now Atlanta Falcons head coach, Arthur Smith. Smith’s schemes were a big reason that Tannehill and Derrick Henry were able to have their breakouts in recent years. Assuming they don’t forget how to play football, Tannehill will continue to be on the borderline elite level.
