Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers

Once again Cowherd picked Justin Herbert over Mayfield as his starting quarterback for the next five years. Okay Browns fans, this one is tough to argue. After throwing for 4,336 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 2020, the only argument is he has only done it for one year.

However, in that one season of work, Herbert had better stats than Mayfield has in three years of work. Where most people were wrong, how good of a draft prospect Herbert truly was. While Herbert did have a tremendous rookie year, he still only won six games. Let’s keep an eye on that moving forward, as wins are far more important than the stat line.

Derek Carr – Las Vegas Raiders

Once again, Cowherd goes against Mayfield and references Derek Carrs 101-passer rating the last two years. He also mentions that it’s not even close. Hold on a second Colin, do wins not matter anymore? While Mayfield let his team to 12 wins and the first playoff win since 1994, Carr led his team to 7 and then 8 wins the last two seasons?

Yes, he threw for over 4,000 yards, but that is because his team was losing far more often and doesn’t have a system that is nearly effective running the football. We can’t take credit away from Mayfield just because he has a top-three running back in the league in Nick Chubb.

Carr is a very good NFL quarterback, and as a biased fan, I take Mayfield. Taking into consideration my bias, I think it is safe to say this is a draw at best.
