Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers

After the collapse of the Steelers to end 2020 which ended with two straight losses to the Cleveland Browns, not many are surprised Cowherd went with Mayfield over Ben Roethlisberger. While I despise Roethlisberger, it is mostly because of how good he was and how well he always seemed to play vs. the Browns.

After a 17-year career and multiple injuries, it’s safe to say it is time for Roethlisberger to hang up the cleats and move on. As tough as it is to go out this way, it will only be worse if he returns in 2021. The Steelers will strongly consider moving on as well, as his cap hit is over $41 million in 2021.

Mathew Stafford – Detroit Lions

The most underrated quarterback in the league right now is Mathew Stafford. This is a guy who gave everything to the city of Detroit, and in return got nothing back from ownership. Aside from Calvin Johnson for six seasons, Stafford has had not talent on offense and has had the worst running game in the league for years.

With his new opportunity with the Rams, I don’t blame Colin for taking him over Mayfield. Stafford still has a cannon and has proved to be clutch at the end of games. While he is 33-years old, he still has five solid years of being a quarterback. Mayfield certainly could catch Stafford with another year or two of improvements, but that talent on defense in Los Angeles is another huge benefit.
