2. WR Chris Godwin

Chris Godwin is interested in returning to Tampa Bay, and the team certainly wants him back, but money talks, and the Browns have a ton of it currently locked up in two receivers who haven’t exactly given $30 million worth of production. There is a chance that Cleveland could move on from both of them this offseason, and if that is the case, signing a new No. 1 for Baker Mayfield could make some sense.

Godwin is much more dynamic than Jarvis Landry and has been much more productive than Odell Beckham Jr. over the past four seasons. He turns 25 on February 27th and is entering the prime of his career. If the Browns wanted to really shake up their WR room and save some money, swapping Landry and Beckham out for Godwin would accomplish both goals, while making the offense more explosive and more in-line with Mayfield’s skillset.

Is it likely that the Browns make a move this bold? Probably not, but there will be additions to the WR room and it won’t be as expensive as it is today. Cleveland will probably sign a free agent receiver, and while it almost certainly won’t be Godwin, the idea has to at least be discussed.
