1. Sign J.J. Watt

This needs to be done sooner than later because it sounds like J.J. Watt will be signed within the next week or two. There will be plenty of pass rush free agent talent available when the league year begins in March but Watt is the perfect signing for the Browns and would be a huge boost needed as they’re in their window to compete for a title.

Watt is still very effective and sounds extremely motivated to win. Unlike the younger available pass rushers, the Browns can sign Watt to a shorter deal. This is important because Cleveland has several players they are going to need to extend in the next year or two to include Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Wyatt Teller, and Denzel Ward.

The former Houston Texan could command around $15 million a year according to ESPN, so having that money come off the books when you need to sign those other players will line up perfectly. The alternative is signing one of the younger pass rushers to a longer deal and having to work around that larger contract when trying to extend the Browns’ other good players.

J.J. Watt joining the Browns would give him a chance to win a ring while giving them the best chance to find Myles Garrett a running mate while keeping the other talented players together.
