2. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Linebacker, Notre Dame

There’s no denying the Cleveland Browns linebackers were less than ideal in 2020. Cleary, general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski have devalued the position, which makes sense in a pass-happy league. Teams tend to go with multiple wide receiver sets which force teams to take their linebackers off the field anyway, but that doesn’t mean the position is worthless.

Even when playing dime sets, there’s at least one linebacker on the field and when you have a good one, they can make a major difference. Having said that, there are really only two linebackers in this class that the Browns should consider taking in Round 1, and both would need to be targeted via a trade-up.

The first is Micah Parsons from Penn State, but he might be going too high to even consider making a move. The second is Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who might be a more realistic target.

Owusu-Koramoah might remind Cleveland fans of Jabrill Peppers mainly due to his stature. Owusu-Koramoah is listed at 6-foot-1 and 215-pounds and can play linebacker or safety. Peppers was nearly identical in size and also played both positions but was a better fit at safety. As for Owusu-Koramoah, he would be best served to stay at linebacker where he can be a three-down player who offers excellent coverage abilities for the position.

Given the struggles by Cleveland defenders to cover linebackers and running backs in the flat, adding Owusu-Koramoah could be a huge plus for them, making him well worth a move up in Round 1.
