1. Jaycee Horn, Cornerback, South Carolina

Much like the defensive end position mentioned earlier, the Cleveland Browns have one very talented player at cornerback, Denzel Ward, followed by a lot of questions. They know that they have expiring contracts for Terrance Mitchell and Kevin Johnson, what they don’t know is what to expect from Greedy Williams.

A second-round pick in 2019, Williams missed four games as a rookie then was out for the entire 2020 campaign. The injury that sidelined him for all of that season was a nerve issue in his shoulder, which leaves his status in doubt going forward — since injuries such as those are so hard to predict.

Cleveland will likely treat Williams’ spot as if it needs to be filled and then if he does return, that will be a bonus. If this is the route they choose, they will enter the 2021 NFL Draft in need of a starter opposite Ward. If they’re set on a corner in Round 1, they could decide to see who falls to them at 26 and take the best player left or jump ahead of some other defensive back-needy teams and snatch up Jaycee Horn.

The son of former NFL receiver Joe Horn, Jaycee was a stand-out for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He’s long, smart, physical, and instinctive — everything you need in a cornerback. He played well early in his career but put all the tools together in 2020 and had the best season of his career.

Now, some consider him the second-best cornerback after Patrick Surtain, meaning the Browns will have to make a move in order to secure his services — but he would be worth the price.
