3. Breshad Perriman – Wide Receiver

One of the less exciting names on this list is Breshad Perriman. A wide receiver who was originally a first-round pick in 2015 and hasn’t quite lived up to those expectations. Through five seasons Perriman has bounced around to four different teams, with a good amount of success in Cleveland in 2018.

Perriman’s best season came in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he accumulated 645 receiving yards on 36 catches, to go along with six touchdowns.

The veteran wideout isn’t going to be an NFL star or Pro-Bowler, but he can be a very effective slot receiver who has the speed to beat man coverage. Not to mention that in Mayfield’s rookie season, he and Perriman seemed to have some real chemistry towards the end of the season.

One downfall to Perriman, he has only had one season with a catch percentage over 60 percent, but that was his one season in Cleveland. The upside of Perriman, he could be just as strong of a contributor, if not more than Rashard Higgins, and he will come at a similar type of discount.

While Higgins took a sweetheart deal in 2020 for the Browns, his market will be warmer in 2021. Many predict that both will be in the $2-3 million per year range. Perriman would be a short-term answer in Cleveland. Sign him to a one-year deal and give Donovan Peoples-Jones and a likely rookie another year to develop. Although short-term, Perriman could be a huge missing piece of the 2021 puzzle for the Browns.
