Cleveland Browns pre-draft 2021 season outlook
By Nick Swanson
AFC division opponent: AFC West (3-1)
Once again, I only expect the Browns to lose one game in this round of divisional play. It’s for the same reason as the Packers too. The Kansas City Chiefs have the better quarterback, better wide receiver, and in this case, the better coach.
The Chiefs are going to go into the 2021 season with a chip on their shoulder after that Super Bowl loss. The best player on the planet, Patrick Mahomes, is going to come back healthy and tear the league up once again. The defending AFC Champs have improved in the offseason after adding Joe Thuney and Kyle Long. With the Chiefs still being the clear-cut alpha dog in the AFC, it’s expected that a loss will come.
The Chargers are an interesting team to look out for, especially with the development of last season’s Rookie of the Year, Justin Herbert, at the helm. Los Angeles hasn’t made a ton of what we would consider to be “impact” signings so the draft will end up being huge for them.
The Broncos still don’t have an NFL starting-caliber quarterback, especially compared to the others in the division. The team is old, and the coaching isn’t great. The Browns shouldn’t need to worry about Denver this year.
I have no idea what the Raiders are doing. They have cut basically their entire offensive line, lost their number one receiver in free agency and the front office seemingly has no clue what they are doing. Vegas is in for a rough season.
