2. Greedy Williams – Cornerback

There is perhaps no player with more pressure on them in 2021 than cornerback Greedy Williams. After slipping to round two in the 2019 draft, Williams has had a real battle to stay healthy. In 2019 Williams did play in 12 games, but he was forced to miss the entire 2020 season with a shoulder injury.

The biggest concern with Williams is that the injury involves a nerve. The news has been positive recently, but there’s no guarantee that the shoulder will ever be 100 percent the same again. And while not impossible, it would be tough to play corner in the NFL with a shoulder that is numb.

The Kevin Johnson experiment in 2020 went okay, but with all the injuries he and Terrance Mitchell were asked to play out of position too much to be effective. With a healthy Williams and the addition of Troy Hill as the nickel back, the transition back into the NFL will be so much easier.

Not only will Williams have a top corner across from him in Denzel Ward, but he will also have perhaps the best slot cover guy beside him in the league in Hill. It’s true that this may cause Williams to get picked on at times, but the young defensive back has more than enough skills to step his game to the next level.

There are so many question marks with Williams right now, but I expect him to have a breakout year as he steps up his game with the talent around him. Don’t give up on this kid yet.
