3 free agents the Cleveland Browns will regret not signing

Carl Lawson – Defensive End
The biggest need on the defense was help for Myles Garrett. There’s not another position on the defense that can affect a game quicker than a defensive end.
A pass rush speeds up the quarterback and makes the secondary’s job easier, forces a team to throw quicker passes so you can tighten up coverage and the list goes on and on.
Takk McKinley is a great addition, don’t get me wrong, but I would have rather seen the Browns be aggressive with a guy like Carl Lawson. This is a guy who is just entering his prime and only got $15 million per year.
Now, Lawson may have not wanted to be in Cleveland, and that the team can’t control, but he could have been set up for a monster year alongside Garrett.
I think there is a good chance the Browns end up signing Jadeveon Clowney (which I personally don’t hate). But would you rather sign Clowney for $8 million and get one year out of him? Or have a long-term solution with more talent at an extremely important position for $15 million?
With the draft class being so weak at defensive end, I think this decision or lack of aggression at the position could be a major issue unless McKinley just absolutely breaks out, which could happen.
Once again, I hope I’m wrong, but I bet we will come into the 2022 offseason once again looking for a defensive end.
