Nick Bolton – Linebacker, Missouri

Perhaps the exact opposite of Collins, is linebacker, Nick Bolton from Missouri. At 5-foot-11, 237-pounds, Bolton is slightly undersized for the position. What Bolton lacks in size; he makes up for in toughness which is always a great trait to have.

Bolton is an aggressive, physical player who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty in the run game. He also was great in coverage and would have the ability to play man coverage vs. most tight ends in the league.

Finally, Bolton was tremendous on special teams early in his career. You don’t take a guy at No. 26 to play special teams, but it’s certainly an added benefit.

As with any player Bolton certainly has areas where he needs to improve. While he has plenty of quickness and speed to play in the NFL, it is likely his biggest weakness. At times he can get lost in traffic especially when plays are moving laterally. The game may take longer than some to slow down at the next level, but Bolton could easily be an elite NFL linebacker within the next two years.

The pure size of Collins is much more desirable, but still, I’m slightly higher on Bolton just because of his edge and toughness. Coaches can work to increase strength and awareness, but pure toughness is something that can’t be taught.
