26. Cleveland Browns: Terrace Marshall, Jr., WR, LSU

With all the top cornerbacks off the board, the Cleveland Browns are going to have a tough decision to make. Conventional wisdom says they will take a defender but they can’t reach for anyone just for the sake of taking a defender.

Right now, there’s really no one at a position of need that’s worth taking here. Sure, they could go with a defensive end but that could also lead to a reach — and this staff doesn’t seem as though they value linebacker enough to go that route.

In the end, we go with LSU wide receiver Terrace Marshall, Jr. — a pick that won’t exactly be welcomed by all fans. Some would feel this is a slap to the wideouts already on the team, when it’s really not.

What it would be, is planning for the future. Both Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry are 29 which means they’re not going to be in their prime much longer. There’s also Rashard Higgins on the roster but he’s playing on a one-year deal so that means the only young wideout who is slated to be in Cleveland beyond this season is Donovan Peoples-Jones.

This doesn’t mean Marshall can’t help this season as well. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Marshall is a player who can win with size and has enough speed that he averaged more than 100-yards per catch in 2020. He gives them a lot of what they lack at wide receiver which makes him a great compliment to their current corps while allowing them to have options in 2022.
