The Cleveland Browns already added a few players to bolster their defensive secondary this offseason. They also have young players that didn’t play in 2020 that they hope will see time in 2021, like 2020 first-round pick Grant Delpit. Despite both of these facts, they could still look to add talent and depth to the secondary.

Divine Deablo would be a really good fit for what the Browns like to do on defense under Joe Woods’ scheme. For one, he possesses a large frame, weighing 226 pounds, and is listed at 6-foot-3, meaning he can not only play safety, but also play linebacker in certain defensive packages while still allowing for the athleticism and speed of a safety to remain on the field.

Deablo could also be utilized in three-safety defensive sets. He also has experience on the special teams unit, which would allow him to be utilized on the field while he learns the speed of the NFL and develops as an NFL safety.

The biggest issues with Deablo are that he sometimes is slow to respond to a play, and his late reactions can often times put him in bad positions. While he is by no means a liability, he still has yet to prove himself to be an accountable, every-down safety.

The Browns could find themselves in the position of drafting Deablo, both bolstering their secondary unit and their locker room. Deablo is lauded for his character, both on and off the football field.; While they are no longer in need of just adding players because of quality character to build the team up, having that kind of guy on your team is never a bad thing.
