8. What if the Cleveland Browns drafted Patrick Mahomes over Myles Garrett?

Let’s preface this ‘what if?’ moment by saying that nobody saw Patrick Mahomes ascend the game of football like he has done thus far outside of Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, for a look back at that draft. Cleveland selected EDGE rusher Myles Garrett first overall after going 1-15 a season before. Since then, Garrett has proven to be worth the pick and the massive extension he signed last season. He has done wonders for the Browns defensively and is one pace to shatter the franchise sack record.

Mahomes on the other hand has enjoyed much more success including winning a Super Bowl and becoming Super Bowl MVP. He has taken the league completely by storm and is making his way towards a Hall of Fame career. It’s somewhat fun to think about what if he were doing this on the Browns. Would he have led the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance let alone a win?

It wasn’t just the Browns who decided to not take Mahomes as 10 total teams passed on him, including Buffalo who traded the 10th overall pick to the Chiefs, who traded up from 27.

The most puzzling team in that draft wasn’t Cleveland, but instead, Chicago, who traded up to No. 2 to draft quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He was drafted before Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. Yikes.
