Four prospects for third string Browns quarterback
Feleipe Franks is really big and really fast
If you need to have a really big guy play quarterback for your team, Feleipe Franks of Arkansas could be the guy. He’s 6-foot-6 and 234 pounds and, by the way, ran an astounding 4.55 40-yard dash. Lord have mercy, if he does not make it as a quarterback, he may be the new tight end. Holy smokes.
Franks’ sin was getting beat out by Kyle Trask at Florida, who most mocks have as late first round or second round.
However, after transferring to Arkansas from Florida, Franks compiled a 17/4 TD/INT ratio, and 527 yards between interceptions.
For his career, the 23-year-old Franks has four complete seasons, with 37 games, which is nearly an eternity for the 2021 draft. His lifetime totals are 55 TDs and 21 INTs, 6,700 yards, and 319 yards per INT. These are very, very credible totals.
The trend is clear — as he has matured, he cut down on his interceptions. It would not be crazy to start an experienced college quarterback like Franks in his rookie year.
Here again, it is hard to see why Franks is being projected for day three in many mocks while other quarterbacks are supposedly first-round talents and worth trading up for. This guy seems like more of a sure thing than some of the future superstars who have played only a dozen games and zero in the Power Five.
