Davis Mills impressive in small data sample

Davis Mills of  Stanford is 6-foot-4, 228 pounds, and clocked a 4.58  in the 40-yard dash. His season went in the dumpster due to Covid-19, like Trey Lance.

Mills great sin is only 18 TDs in his career, but his eight INTs are low also. He has only 13 college games over three seasons, partly because he had to serve as the and last season had only five games.

In 2020, he had 1,508 yards, a 7/3 TD INT ratio, and 503 yards between interceptions. We wish we could have seen more of him, but what we did see was very positive.

Mills will be 23 in October, meaning he has lost some development time. It’s one thing if a kid has only 13 games and is 21 years old, but something else if he has 13 games at age 23. Can he make up for that lost development time?

Here again, some pundits are suggesting that Mills could be taken as early as the third round, which would take him out of the Browns’ wheelhouse, as they have other needs that need to be taken care of. Others, however, believe his sparse experience is more consistent with a day three gamble. He might be available.
