3. Joseph Ossai, EDGE, Texas

The additions of Jadeveon Clowney and Takk McKinley in free agency give Cleveland a strong EDGE room in 2021, but only Myles Garrett is under contract for 2022. The team lacks the long-term Robin to Garrett’s Batman, which makes the fact that Ossai is available extremely intruiging.

Ossai is very young and just switched to full-time EDGE in 2020, so he is still extremely raw at the position and lacks a good pass-rush plan or feel for winning reps and defeating blocks. However. he still makes an impact on the game due to his relentless effort and elite athletic ability. He has all the tools needed to develop into a really good player, and wouldn’t need to be heavily relied upon in 2021. He can rotate in on passing downs and use his athleticism to generate pressure along with Garrett, Clowney, McKinley, and Malik Jackson.

EDGE is the need that the Browns can most afford to put off until 2022, due to the presence of quality stop-gap free agents every year and the projected strength of the 2022 EDGE class compared to the weakness of this year’s group. But, if Ossai is falling, it would make a lot of sense to secure him.
