Round 4, Pick No. 113: D’Ante Smith, OT, East Carolina

The Browns could field 22 starters right now and have an incredibly competent team. That’s a great feeling to have and it’s a testament to the work Andrew Berry has done over the course of the past two offseasons.

Just this year, he even completely redesigned the defense as they added Jadeveon Clowney, Malik Jackson, Troy Hill, Anthony Walker, and John Johnson in free agency. Then we had the draft which gave us two more starters in Greg Newsome and JOK.

Now, the remaining picks will be all about trying to add some depth — while also bringing in players who could potentially develop into something more. With that goal in mind, they use their second pick in Round 4 on East Carolina offensive tackle D’Ante Smith.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 305-pounds, Smith has the right build as well as limbs for arms. He’s a great zone blocker and while he needs to coached up some, Cleveland has an excellent offensive line coach in Bill Callahan who would be up to the task.

Cleveland is set at offensive tackle with Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin but they can use a new swing tackle and Smith could fill that role nicely.
