Cleveland Browns: Aggressively early look at 53-man 2021 roster
By Greg Newland
Offensive Line
One thing is for certain, the five starters from last year will remain in tac. Jedrick Will and Jack Conklin are both tremendous at tackle, while Joel Bitonio, JC Tretter, and Wyatt Teller round up and fantastic interior line. They may be one of the best five in the NFL.
Expect the Browns to carry at least two additional tackles. Currently, I expect that to be rookie James Hudson and last year’s swingman Chris Hubbard. Remember, Hubbard can play guard or tackle if needed.
The Browns will also need another guy active that can snap the ball. Nick Harris can play guard or center, and the rookie from 2020 played well in limited action last year when called upon. He appears to be the heir apparent of Tretter and will be a big part of the 2021 crew.
The offensive line is where I truly expect them to add an extra active player after only have two quarterbacks. Look for Michael Dunn to make the active roster after showing up big in Week 17 last year, and don’t forget about the return of Drew Forbes.
Although Forbes hasn’t played in over a year, many thought he could compete with Teller for the right guard position last year. 10 active linemen may be overkill, but I could see it happening. Dunn would be the last man out if they go with 9.
