Safety

With the Woods system in tact, I look for the Browns to carry five safeties every week. While there is a chance that it’s five corners and four safeties, I think the roster is more set up to carry five safeties for now.

John Johnson and Ronnie Harrison will likely be the two starting deep safeties, while Grant Delpit will play the hybrid role that includes moving all around the field. While Delpit has yet to play a snap in the NFL, he should be healthy for the first time in two seasons and could be a big bright spot for the defense.

I expect the two backups to be rookie, Richard LeCounte, and Sheldrick Redwine. These two players could easily be different, but at this moment I’m going with these two. LeCounte is coming off a serious injury, and if healthy can easily steal this spot. Some do question rather or not he will ever be 100% again though.

Redwine continues to be a guy that disappoints. He will show flashes of being capable, and then completely blow a coverage. You could also see a guy like Stewart make the roster with the ability to play safety and cornerback.

The biggest question for me who be who starts in a two-safety look. Will you see Harrison or Delpit?  Harrison was great last year, but many expect a ton of production from Delpit. Keep in mind, JOK and Fields also can also be considered the third safety in running situations. Just depends if you want to call it a 4-2-5 or a 4-3 scheme.
