Touchdown Percentage

"Lamar Jackson: 7.2% Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen: 5% Mason Rudolph: 4.6% Sam Darnold: 3.7% Josh Rosen: 2.4%"

When looking at the total amount of touchdowns thrown so far in their career, Baker Mayfield is actually the leader in this category through their first three seasons. Part of the reason that Lamar is number one here in this category is where on the field he actually gets his passing attempts and how often he actually throws the ball.

The five percent mark is really right around where you want a quarterback to be. That means if your quarterback throws 500 attempts in a season, or 31 times in the old 16 game format, he’s throwing around 25 touchdowns a year.

Mayfield and Jackson are the only quarterbacks on this list who have hit the 25 touchdown mark twice out of their three seasons, and Josh Allen has only done it once. Darnold, Rudolph, and Rosen have not eclipsed the 25 touchdown mark in either of their seasons. To be fair, none of them played in a full 16 game season. Neither has Lamar Jackson, though.

Expect in the next few coming years for Mayfield and Josh Allen to both raise their touchdown percentages, as both are really just starting to get their elite supporting casts around themselves. Sam Darnold could potentially see all of his statistics shoot up now that he has a good supporting cast around him, too.
