Re-casting the award-winning series Entourage with your favorite Cleveland Browns players as the stars

Suppose the rumors are true and the Emmy award-winning HBO series Entourage returns for a reboot. They’ll likely need to replace at least some cast from a series that last aired 10 years ago this fall. Where better to look for the next set of cable stars than on the shores of Lake Erie, home of the off-season darling Cleveland Browns?

Like we see early on with Entourage’s main cast of Vinny, E, Turtle, and Drama, the Browns are young and popular, but haven’t yet tasted any real success.

Casting starts with finding the star. Who’s our Vinnie Chase? The guy landing the big roles, appearing on late-night shows, getting the best table in the restaurant?

Well, that’s easy. Baker Mayfield is the choice. 2018’s first overall pick garners the most on-field attention at First Energy Stadium and would be equally as popular at the box office. Not to mention, Baker already has acting chops, having appeared in numerous commercials for Progressive and Nissan.

That leads us to the role of Eric Murphy, better known as “E”. The level-headed one. This is Vincent Chase’s business manager and friend. With the main job responsibility of protecting the star. For this role, we look directly in front of Mayfield to center J.C. Tretter.

Having to play the role of protector would be an easy transition for the Tretter who spends Sundays keeping his QB off the ground. A bonus is Tretter’s business acumen. The current president of the players association, Tretter wouldn’t have to “act” smart. The 30-year-old is a Cornell graduate.

Next in line to be cast is the role of group chauffeur, and errand-runner, “Turtle”. Getting the call for the table read is Kareem Hunt. Turtle’s job isn’t defined by one specific responsibility. This makes Hunt and his job as a line-me-up-anywhere player within the Browns offense, the perfect fit. Hunt is the swiss army knife of the offense and the cast. Both Turtle and Hunt have been known to have clouds of smoke emitting from their cars. Though not from the exhaust.

Playing the role of Johnny Chase, aka “Drama” is a no-brainer. That would be the on-field watch-wearing, illegal-visor-wearing, shoe-gifting, never-a-dull-moment, Odell Beckham Jr. In the same way that Johnny Drama continues to chase his early career success (by way of Viking Quest), OBJ is attempting to reclaim the magic of his younger years. Though not the star, love him or hate him, you can’t wait to see what he does next.

We still need one last piece to complete this pseudo-Entourage-Browns puzzle. Someone needs the Ari Gold gig. That someone needs to be aggressive. They need to plow through obstacles, never stopping until they get what they want. Which makes Myles Garrett the pick to play super-agent Ari Gold. As offensive tackles around the league have come to learn, there’s no stopping Garrett from getting what he wants. Like Gold, when Garrett walks into a room (assuming he can fit through the doorway), everyone notices. He demands attention.

Lest we forget a cameo appearance. After all, Entourage rarely missed an opportunity to work in a celebrity appearance or two each episode. With a made-for-tv touchdown celebration and the nickname to match, Rashard “Hollywood” Higgins makes the cut.

For this Cleveland cast, the Emmys can wait. They’re looking for Lombardi’s.
