1. Two rookies win starting jobs

The final bold prediction for the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2021 season is that they’re going to end up with two rookies in starting roles in Week 1 — of course, wide receiver three could be a starter in some packages, but with the Browns loving the two tight end set, we won’t be counting the earlier prediction about Anthomny Schwartz at WR3 as one of these starters.

Instead, we will look at their first and second-round picks, starting with Greg Newsome II. A product of Northwestern, Newsome has had his own share of durability concerns (he missed 14 games while playing in 17 during his collegiate career) but he’s easily going to be one of the best defensive backs in Cleveland.

He won’t be the only rookie starter either as second-round pick Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will be in the lineup from Week 1 as well. There are reports that Cleveland likes him in the WILL position but he can also play a safety role in their 4-2-5 defense as well.

His versatility means he should be on the field a lot as a rookie. Cleveland needs to do better on defense this coming season and these two new starters — and they could have as many as eight when throwing in the free-agent signings — will go a long way in making that happen.
