Rushing Yards Per Game

"Nick Chubb: 80.8 YPG Saquon Barkley: 75.6 YPG Sony Michel: 60.3 YPG Bo Scarbrough: 58.3 YPG Ronald Jones: 44.8 YPG Kerryon Johnson: 36 YPG Rashaad Penny: 30.5 YPG Royce Freeman: 25.8 YPG Justin Jackson: 23.3 YPG Boston Scott & Chase Edmonds: 21.3 YPG"

We see again another statistic that Nick Chubb takes the crown in. 80.8 rushing yards per game, for those wondering, comes out to about 1,293 yards in a 16 game season. Yeah, Nick Chubb is pretty good.

The pro-paying running backs crowd might take notice that the top three guys on this list were all selected within the first 40 picks of the draft. Bo Scarbrough, a 7th round pick, takes fourth place on this list, but his sample size isn’t nearly as large as some of the other guys.

Sony Michel’s 60.3 yards per game is a pretty respectable number, as that’s about the minimum of what you would want your feature running back to be at. However, this number has been steadily declining from season to season for him, and since Lamar Jackson was the pick right after him, he’s more often than not labeled as a bust.

For those fantasy football players out there, you might notice that there are a few names on here that might surprise you for their rushing yards per game being that low. Justin Jackson for one is a name that was surprising, but his rushing yards per game have been steadily climbing over his career, as he has been arguably the best 7th round draft pick in this class.

He has developed into a valuable asset for the Chargers and should be primed for a pretty good season in 2021, as he enters the last year of his contract.
