Terrance Mitchell – Cornerback

While Terrance Mitchell was only with the Cleveland Browns for three seasons, it felt like he was around forever. He was always a utility guy getting thrown into positions because of injuries. The former seventh-round pick was never intended to be a starter in Cleveland, but in three seasons he totaled 27 starts because of so many injuries.

His biggest value was certainly last year with all the injuries. Greedy Williams never played a snap, and Ward was forced to miss times as well. Even though he doesn’t have near the talent of those guys, he stepped in and made a ton of plays when he was called upon.

Mitchell would get beat every once in a while and was often far too soft in coverage for my liking, but given the situation, he was a great asset to have.

With the addition of Troy Hill and Williams and Ward on the Roster, there just wasn’t a huge need for Mitchell on the roster in 2021. And with the addition of Greg Newsome in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, the Browns will be substantially better at the position without the services of Mitchell.

While Mitchel will likely go down as underappreciated, he was a huge reason for the success in 2020 and I wish him well with his next team, the Houston Texans.
