The Cleveland Browns enter the 2021 season coming off an 11-win season and recording their first playoff victory since 1994 when Bill Belichick was still wearing brown and orange. Even with a ton of success last year, the roster will look totally different in 2021 (for the better).
The Browns will likely have three new starting defensive linemen, two new linebackers, and a possibility of three new secondary players. That means nearly two-thirds of the defense will be new in 2021.
There looks to be a ton of turnover on the defense, the offense should remain in check. Some question what the depth chart will look like at tight end, but other than that, I don’t see many challenges for starting positions.
What’s great to see as a Cleveland fan, even though there was great success last season, Andrew Berry is in full attack mode. Berry had a great offseason in free agency, signing multiple starters, and he was also aggressive in the draft. Many have Cleveland graded higher than any other team based on their free agency and draft signings.
With all these new faces, there will certainly come challenges. For one, the Browns haven’t had to worry about the salary cap in two decades. The team was always well below the cap and ended up overpaying below-average players.
Second, the Browns will have some very difficult roster decisions. There could easily be players that have been big contributors that don’t even make the roster for week one. Check out these five surprising names that could be looking for new homes next season.
