The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look at a cornerback they could still sign in free agency

With the signing of Troy Hill and the selection of Greg Newsome II in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns will have two new players logging significant snaps at cornerback for them in 2021.

They could also get Greedy Williams back, but their 2019 second-round pick does still have a cloud of uncertainty around him with the shoulder injury he’s been dealing with.

With his injury history, as well as the fact that Denzel Ward has yet to play a full season, there could still be a need for more depth. But who could the Browns sign?

One name that popped up recently is Steven Nelson, who was released by the Steelers this offseason. Could he find a home in Cleveland on a one-year deal?

That’s the question in our featured article for today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Could free agent CB Steven Nelson still interest the Browns? — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“At 28 years old, Nelson is still considered to be near the prime of his career. In 2020, Nelson had two interceptions and was graded by Pro Football Focus with a 67.1 overall grade and a 68.1 coverage grade, good for 48th best coverage corner in the NFL.”"

Nelson was solid for the Steelers last season and adding him this late would be huge. The question is whether or not he would be willing to join the Browns. In Cleveland, he might not beat out Newsome, and Hill is set in the slot — that means he could be the fourth cornerback on the team. He likely will look elsewhere for a better opportunity.

A Browns player tested positive for COVID-19 before on-field work Tuesday; several others sent home as close contacts — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“A Browns player tested positive for COVID-19 before on-field work Tuesday in a modified version of the offseason program, and several others were also sent home as close contacts, a league source told cleveland.com.”"

The health and safety of every player needs to come first but if we are all being honest, it has to be extra worrisome for the Browns considering how many players were affected by COVID-19 last season.

Austin Hooper Joining David Njoku, Other Top Tight Ends In Nashville — Brandon Little, Browns Digest

"“Austin Hooper is joining teammate David Njoku and many others in a group called Tight End University. TEU is made up by Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen. The group will get together in Nashville, though there are not many details yet.”"

Those are some huge names to be working alongside of, but the Browns having more than one premium tight end at this event showcases how deep they are at this position.
